Letter to Senator - Urge opposition to HR1

VAK, PhD
Los Angeles, CA

January 26, 2009

The Honorable Senator Barbara Boxer
112 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510
Fax: (202) 224-0454

Dear Senator Boxer,

Over the weekend I have had a chance to read through the 647 pages of HR1 of the 111th congress. I appreciate the economic crisis which the United States is currently experiencing, and the urge of our leaders to take bold action. However, I believe the Recovery Act, as currently written, will make things worse, not better.

One of the factors which I think brought on this crisis is that individuals and institutions, private and governmental, have forgotten a basic economic truism - do not spend money you don't have. We already have a deficit of close to a trillion dollars, and with the swipe of a pen, if this bill is signed - it will double. Spending by the Federal government at this juncture should be reigned in as opposed to become limitless.

HR1 includes many ideas, policies, and projects which have been considered and pushed by members of congress for years. The impression is that congress is taking this economic crisis as an opportunity to pass them under the guise of recovery. The sense of urgency should not cloud our judgment - the citizens' and the legislature's.

Tax relief and specific steps to address the housing crisis will be useful at this point. Any other spending program should be deliberated separately for it's own merits.

As your constituent, I urge you to oppose HR1.

Respectfully yours,

VAK, PhD
Los Angeles, CA

It instantly became the buzz on many search engine blogs and discussion forums. Since then, RSSMicro has received hundreds of reviews and comments. Many of these ideas were successfully implemented to form a new and highly competitive search service which has never been offered by rival search engines.
A message from Tim Cox, Founder, GOOOH

Thirty Days.

Our deadline for reaching critical mass is rapidly approaching. The odds remain stacked heavily against us, but we still have time. A lot can happen in thirty days. We have built a solid foundation with thousands of members. More than ten thousand visited our Web site in the last week alone; over 70,000 since our launch just a few months ago.

We have been on the radio in 50 cities. Our videos are showing up on dozens of Web sites and GOOOH is being discussed in forums and blogs all across America. Google the word "GOOOH" and you will get over 18,000 hits.

We've been told by a few that we cannot succeed. There are others who choose not to participate because they find some detail with which they disagree. Amazingly, there are even those who support the current process and the existing politicians. Nevertheless, the numbers strongly favor our mission. The only question in my mind is, "Can we reach critical mass in 2008?"

I believe we can, but only if you will help. Here's what we need.
Call or write your favorite talk-radio or television station and tell them about GOOOH. They listen to their listeners. We've been on in a dozen cities because members like you took the time to make a call.
Recommend our blog, forward a link to the video, and post the GOOOH flyer wherever you can. Links from trusted sites and notes from recommended friends are the best recruiting tool we have. For a limited time you can get a free copy of Get Out Of Our House: Revolution! by recruiting new members - watch the Web site for details.
Help us land a spot on a national show. Give thought to what can happen if we can get one national media opportunity.

Eighty-five percent of us disapprove of the job Congress is doing, yet ninety-five percent of the politicians are re-elected. Why? Because the system is broken. We all see what is happening to our country, and finally there is something we can do about it. Are you willing to help?

Sincerely,

Tim Cox
Founder, GOOOH

The year 1976 is vivid in my mind. It was a good year to be Israeli. Rina Mor was crowned Miss Universe. SSK, the Moscow basketball team was beaten by Tal Brody and his fellow Macebees from Tel-Aviv; Israel was on the map -- al ha-mapa. No need to mention that Yoni Netanyahu was a household name in every Jewish home across the world. All the gentiles saw the footage of the Entebe attack and realized it might not be a good idea to mess with the Jews.

On that year one of the songs that vied to be sent to the Eurovision contest was noladeti la- shalom, I was Born for Peace. That song defined me and probably a generation of girls, of erets Israel ha-shelma, the whole land of Israel. It lost, by the way, to Halleluya, which earned this rising power of ours a second victory in a row in this cultural race.

Thirty two years have gone by. Two weeks ago I found myself saying out loud, in disbelief --

remember, as a sweet sixteen I hated Ariel Sharon for his crimes against humanities, I went to kikar malchey Israel quite a few times way before the plaza changed its name to honor our slain leader Rabin, my favorite song to sing in the shower was shir la-shalom, Song for Peace, my eyes still well up whenever I hear Miri Aloni's rendition of it in the ha-lehaka soundtrack --

so I find myself saying out loud, in disbelief --

You know how there are thousands of palestinians fleeing to Egypt through a hole in the wall? The IDF should drop three atomic bombs on them.

There. I said it.

What brought this outburst on, from a Peace Now protege like me, was the news about the bombs that went off in Bagdad. Turns out that the bombs were remotely controlled, strapped to two young retarded girls. Yes, that's right. An innovative tactic of suicide bombs invented by muslim freedom fighters.

Peace Now?!?! It does not make sense.

There is no place to turn to but to the poets... the older the better...

Everything has its season, and there is a time for everything under the heaven:
A time to bear life, and a time to die,
a time to plant & a time to uproot,
a time to kill & a time to heal,
a time to wreck & a time to build,
a time to weep & a time to laugh,
a time to mourn & a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones & a time to gather stone,
a time to embrace & a time to shun embraces,
a time to seek & a time to lose,
a time to keep & a time to discard,
a time to tear & a time to mend,
a time to be silent & a time to speak up,
a time to love & a time to hate,
a time for war & a time for peace.
(Kohelet, 3,1:8)

I continue to pray for shalom al Israel, peace on Israel,

R.
